The Story
Hi! I’m Megan. In 2021, I scoured Zillow, dropped the price range down to impossibly low ranges and came across the ugliest “house” I had ever seen in my life. A gun club operating nearby had owned this building for 50+ years and used it as a social club for its members- including a fully functioning bar and plenty of taxidermy deer heads. For a bar, it was pretty cool. Surpluses of wood paneling, a pool table, shuffleboard, darts, urinals, giant screen TVs- you name it, these guys had built the ultimate man-cave.
Unfortunately, the doors couldn’t afford to stay open any longer and upon the sale, the town was adamant that it be converted back to its correctly zoned plot as a residential home. After initially visiting the property, my vision quickly crumbled and I realized it was simply too involved for my abilities. Dan-O (Dad) agreed and suggested I put in a wild card low ball offer just for “practice” and walk away. A few weeks later that offer became a reality and I was confident I was making the dumbest decision of my life.
Follow along for the conversion from gun club to beautiful home on a budget.. Inspired by my love of nature and subtle, quirky décor.
